My Calacata Oro countertops were installed 8 years ago and, though they were sealed and I have re-applied sealant, they picked up a decent amount of etching here and there. I live in San Francisco and the price of professional refinishing was astounding, so I decided to try to do it myself first. My contractor friend down the street said abrasive powders don't really work and was mildly optimistic about the Bonastre product, though he had never tried it. I'm pleased to say it worked really well, even on the worst etches. Took about two hours, wasn't at all difficult and counters now look like new. Nice and mirror-like! I'll be ordering some more of the discs to work on some marble flooring in the bathroom.
Store owner replied:
Susan, thank you so much for the detailed review! Really glad it tackled even the worst etching on your counters and gave you that mirror-like finish, and awesome that you're planning to use it on your marble flooring next. Appreciate you sharing your experience!
This product is ideal for DIY people. Very simple to use and does not take long.
It’s… ok. I used it on Carrara marble. The surface was better than I started with. It did do a good job getting rid of almost all the spotting I was experiencing.
That said, it was incapable of reaching the mirror-like shine that professional systems are able to. All of my microscratches are still there, albeit a bit dulled out. The finer finishing pads aren’t able to remove the rough surface that the first one generated.
If I were to do this again, I’d get a more serious set of sanding disks and invest in a wired polisher. Drills just don’t reach the RPMs that a dedicated polisher does.
Store owner replied:
Vadim, we are so sorry to hear that the results were not what you were expecting. This is not typical for this system, its commonly used by professionals to achieve a mirror like finish, however, its not designed to remove deep damage. We would love to discus this further in hopes we can assist in getting a finish you are happier with.

Great product! I purchased a house with a marble island (40" x 68") that was in bad shape. Returning it to pristine condition took about 2 hours. Half of the time was spent using the red pad. The learning curve was steep in terms of how fast to run the drill and how to divide the counter top into reasonable chunks work. If did it again, it would take probably 30 minutes less time. My suggestions to future users is to place drop cloths on the floor around the counter. The slurry generated during polish can create quite a mess.
Great kit at a fair price. As a handyman, I was able to polish my client’s black marble vanity and easily remove the serious etching. They were prepared to completely replace the surface and this was much less expensive. It was an approximate 4 hr process to include cleaning before polish, polishing through all grits then sealing. They were happy and said it looked better than new. Simply follow the video instructions and it works!

Worked a treat. Our marble coffee table was etched and looking horrible. Took my time and went through the stages and now it shines better than we first got the table. Take your time people

Great Product
I bought the Magic Renova 5 inch polishing kit for our Carrera marble vanity top, which was badly etched from cleaning it with vinegar (bad choice for type of stone and cleaning solution).
After watching the video demonstration, I tried it using disks 1-4 and the green pad. (There was also a black disk which I didn't use). The first try left it still somewhat etched. So I repeated the full process again and the vanity top came out as shiny as when it was new.
Great product.

Good System
Over all a great system 5/5 stars. however I needed another of pads and did not realize until mid way through the job. My fault not theirs but I was a headache to stop and then have to start again so I recommend buying the spare set of pads off the bat.
Store owner replied:
Thank you so much for your honest review Rich! We do recommend purchasing a second set of pads if you have a large job or an extremely etched/worn stone. As you can imagine showers and bathrooms get loaded with soap scum which cause the pads to work harder and get gummed up easier. You can always purchase single discs as well if you only need more cutting discs :)
Thank you again Rich!

amazing
Excellent results, my countertop and shower look as good as new!
Great Investment
We got this so we could shine up our marble as we have 4 marble showers as well as marble countertops in our kitchens and bathrooms. The instructional videos made it super easy to follow along and go through each step. We were very pleased with the results. Our showers, countertops and our marble tile in our master bath have never looked better. Only downside is we did not realize we should have ordered the set of replacement pads along with the kit. We quickly realized we needed more pads once we started our master. Other then needing more pads we had no issues and love the simplicity but functionality of this kit. 5/5 recommend, certainly worth the money as we had a quote for $9k to restore all the marble in our house by a professional.
Great Results!
Overall this is a great option for anybody looking to refinish their counter tops or their showers!
We used this kit to refinish our marble shower and can honestly say it looks as new as the day we had it installed.
It is very easy to use and we loved that there were no chemicals required!!!!

Pros & Cons
I just resurfaced my limestone cooktop island counter with this kit (17 sq ft/ 1.6m). After 20 years of cooking the stone had some etched rings and some grease that had penetrated the stone.
PROS: The flexible drill plate is an amazing gadget that worked really well. It kept the abrasive flat against the stone regardless of slight angles in the electric drill used to power it. Great idea. Also, a good video on YouTube demonstrates the use of this kit.
CONS: There are only four abrasive discs included in the kit and this was barely enough for my small counter. The coarsest disc was not coarse enough to remove the etched rings. For those spots I had to wet sand by hand with 240-grit and 400-grit paper before using the kit's coarse disc. Also the coarse disc quickly "loaded up" with the embedded dirt/grease (even with water lubrication) that had penetrated the stone, which reduced cutting effectiveness. It would have been great to have had one or two more coarse discs and also a coarser grit for dealing with worn & etched areas.
I recommend this kit with caveats. I spent about FOUR HOURS on my small counter. The finished surface is a nice, slightly matte finish--NOT a high-gloss polish. While I am pleased with the results a coarser abrasive and a few more discs would have cut this time. If your countertop is larger you will need more abrasive discs and you will also need a coarser abrasive disc than the one provided if your stone has much etching or wear.
Store owner replied:
Thank you David for your honesty! We appreciate any and all feedback.
We do recommend giving the surface a very good clean down with a cleaner built to cut through hard water, residue's ect such as Easy Scrub or Easy Oxy prior to using the discs. It helps the discs do their job better when they are not getting embedded with gunk.
If your stone does have a decent amount of wear and etching it will take a few rounds of cutting to get down to a good base, you do not necessarily need a grit that is more coarse but rather more of the red cutting discs to get down to where you want to start.
In regards to your stone not polishing up to a high gloss it can be due to a few factors! Every stone is different and reacts differently to polishing.
